I've played jazz, blues, lots of rock of course and most everything in between. I think playing the song is the thing to do. I took my first lessons in third grade (fifty years ago, whoa), studied with two of the best teachers in northern Indiana and started playing in bands 45 years ago. I have a great set (64 Rogers) and reliable transportation. I've been playing at several jams, mostly Cooper's on Sundays, Zigato's on first Friday and The Silver Dollar on third Friday. I live in Grass Valley. Oh, and I like to play with dynamics so I'm not into the "turned up all the way all the time" thing. I love to play good music, anything from a jazz piano trio (anyone playing Oscar Peterson style?) to a big band, blues, good rock, whatever. Drop me an email, or talk to me at a jam session somewhere. Thanks for the forum.

Hey, mattm.
I'm just down the hill from you in Auburn. Guitar player, here. Where in N. Indiana are you from? I was born and raised in Bowling Green, Ohio, but that was a long time ago. If you played in bands back then (1970's), maybe we crossed paths. Sounds like I need to get myself up to Coopers some Sunday. I need to connect with other players.
Musman,
You got a session coming up? You inquired with the same question to me in another post. It sounds kind of like you're putting something together and looking for players.
Cheers,
Michael

I have done some recording, but not lately. I did some at Different Fur in SF decades ago, and learned about muffling for mikes, but that may have changed since then. My meter is excellent, but if that means I have to fight the bass player who races ahead I won't have fun. I once played with a bass player who could as well have said "get ready, set, go" instead of counting off and it wasn't pretty.

Hey, Matt.
Thanks for the jam at Cooper's on Sunday. Have to do that again sometime soon!

Hey Michael, It was good to meet you and play together. I look forward to doing it again soon. I'm going away next weekend so I think I'll make it a three jam weekend by going to the Steel Train Station tonight if I'm not too tired. I went to the Blue Room Friday night which is a pretty good jam too.
See you later, Matt

Hey Joe, I'm planning to be there. Is it at 8 or 9, or inbetween? I've got to call at 5 to see if I have to show up for jury duty tomorrow morning.
Thanks, Matt

Still looking for some people to play with. Is anyone interested in starting something in the Placer/Nevada Co. area?

Hey, here's a post to keep the meager news of me out there. I'm filling in for the regular drummer for Jimmy "Cadillac" Reed at the Sail Inn tomorrow night Friday 4/16 9:30 on. And I'm working with a band in south Placer that we'll soon unleash on the world about the time we think of a name. Hey, maybe I'll put the gig in "gigs" too!

OK folks, my horoscope said "reach out to your network", and damn it, you're about all I got! So does anyone need a well practiced drummer with forty plus year's experience (who can't seem get the rest of the cave dwellers out of the studio) for a New Year's gig? (Great sounding set too!) Casual, fill-in, your drummer's already drunk, or suffering from spontanious combustion, whatever. Otherwise this old fart stays home and watches the New York countdown and falls asleep on the couch like last year. Any style but that there one drop reggie. I ain't playing my bass drum just on the afterbeat, and that's final!

I thought I would sign on again but say something this time to move my listing out front. Still looking for gigs to play. Give me a reason to pack up the drums!
