Hello...
I'm new to this site. Prolly a bit older than most of you. Grew up on everything from the Beatles and Stones to the Who, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, etc. Actually I have a pretty wide range of tastes as far as music goes so I'm pretty open - but my preference is more of a classic rock style.
I've been playing guitar and writing songs most of my life. I've been told that I play on a "professional level"... well, I hope so. I've been doing it long enough. Just lost my job due to the lagging economy so now I have more time on my hands - for now.
Anyone want to get together and jam and see where it goes? I plan to start doing some open mikes right away and if I can put together a group it would be cool to book some shows. But it pretty much has to be people who are good enough not to need hours and hours of practice each week because I can't commit to that. But we could spend as much time as we need at the beginning.
Any takers?
BTW - I live in Lincoln, CA near Roseville.

Hey smittyman, you may not be as old as some here (I actually SAW the Beatles at Candlestick). I used to be in a gigging bank bunch of years ago, now have the real money career in a good place, so have been slowly re-assembling my kit (I'm a percussive type) with the thought of giving my muse some attention. If you have a place to jam and some patience while I re-acquire a decent skill level, I'm up for the discussion at least.

Cool. I'll clean up the garage and we'll see if we can put something together, OK?

Thanks, sounds like a plan. Give me as much lead-time as you can; I do travel some, usually have trips scheduled two to four weeks in advance

Hi Michael. Do you play lead guitar or rythm? I'm a rythm guitarist myself - could use a good lead guitarist.

Smittyman,
I play lead guitar. Been doing it semi-professionally most of my life. I currently play in two other bands, but my band mates are scattered all over northern CA. I'm looking for players closer to home these days. quote: "Grew up on everything from the Beatles and Stones to the Who, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, etc."
It sounds like we listened to the same stuff back in the day. Style-wise, my main influences are probably Clapton, Allman Bros., and David Gilmour.

Michael -
Cool! If you can play lead like David Gilmour you're my new hero! Heh... no pressure, though.

Guitar & Mandolin for Recording & Backup I came to CA in the great hippie migration of 1969. Now a suburbanite in Roseville, but I still love rock-n-roll. Anyway, I am available to sit-in for recording tracks or live performances. I am gainfully employed and just looking for something musically interesting. I specialize in harmonic backing and can really follow, harmonize and play off the melody. I excel at whipping on nice harmonic background parts, on the fly. I like all kinds of music, but I mostly play, pop, light rock, blues, jazz, folk. I have nice equipment, acoustic and electric guitar, Roland GR20 guitar synthesizer, mandolin, effects, PA, and a ProTools recording set up. Thanks – Don, Roseville - ddetrich@surewest.net

We are re-creating a high quality Pink Floyd tribute show complete with the full multi-dimensional experience Floyd is famous for. Things are coming together nicely but we are still looking for a few more people to complete this exciting project. We now have a great front man, rhythm & lead guitarists and the ideal drummer. We are still seeking a Dynamic Bass player and a strong Keyboard / Synth player with a good ear for this intricate music. You will also need to have you own gear suited to recreate Floyd. There are also spots for more vocals both lead and backup. Additionally we are in need of some brilliant technical individuals with expertise in stage lighting, lasers, video projection or sound engineering to be part of this project. Woman highly encouraged to inquire, This is a fun easy going group and this will be great fun.
Our objective is to do 6-8 performances annually at small / medium event size venues in No. Calif. and have a lot of fun along the way.
Those interested need to be willing and able to show up on time to1-2 weekly practices with your parts learned and practiced ready to work on the performance. You must be organized and capable of learning your parts accurately. You also must be mature, easy going and be able to work as part of a team. We will be practicing in Folsom in a comfortable studio.
We are hoping to get organized quickly and would like to get out and do a couple shows before the years over.
We will be starting off primarily playing songs from: Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall Wish You Were Here Animals
In the near future we also plan to cover music from the Floyd’s earlier days of A Saucerful of Secrets, Atom Heart Mother Meddle, as well as newer material from The Division Bell.
Be part of making this vision a reality and join us in recreating the legendary music and psychedelic experience of one of the greatest rock bands of all time.
Pink Floyd

I'm a bass player who grew up playing along with Geddy Lee and I'm interested in an audition. Let me know.
