I have a Schecter Hellcat VI for sale. $500. This is an instrument of the same type as the Fender Bass VI. Use it as a plain old bass, or use it in the many roles that the Bass VI is well-known for (tic-tac bass, baritone guitar, post-punk lead bass, etc.). It's scale length is 30 inches, which is standard short-scale bass length, but it has two extra strings. Regular bass guitar is tuned like the lower four strings of a standard guitar, but an octave lower (EADG). Well a Bass VI-type instrument gives you two higher strings, normally tuned to B and E, so it's like all six strings of a standard guitar, but an octave lower. If you wouldn't ever want to use it as a bass, you can always get lighter strings (make sure they are long enough, though) and set it up as a dedicated baritone guitar (tuned from A to A or B to B, etc.)
Anyway, the bass works as good as new, it has hardly a mark on it, it's black with chrome hardware. It's currently strung with a set of Fender Bass VI stainless steel roundwounds, but Schecter does sell strings especially made for the Hellcat VI from their website (same gauges, just a different string manufacturer, and the low E is a bit shorter so it fits better [the Fender Bass VI low E string wraps around the tuning post a bit much, but it still functions just fine]).
Anyway, I'm asking $500 for this instrument, and you get a gig bag and strap too. This instrument is occasionally sold on eBay, but retailers hardly ever have any in stock (either they don't carry them anymore or they are on almost eternal backorder). You won't find one in your local Guitar Center. If you want something like a Fender Bass VI but for a lot less money, contact me and we'll set up a time when you can come try it out to see if it's to your liking.
The reason I'm selling it is because I have another Bass VI-type instrument that I prefer (Burns Barracuda), and I could use the cash to help fund the purchase of a bass I really want (an old Harmony H-22)
Do a Google search for "Schecter Hellcat VI" if you want to find details, stats, photos, reviews, etc. I don't have a decent digital camera, otherwise I'd take some pictures.
