Ok, Pardon my error yesterday. I posted in the wanted/for sale area. I also posted that I purchased the 520 version of this set of monitors. I did, but they guy at GC called today to let me know they'd be delayed until sometime next month and I needed monitors by the beginning of next month. So, I went down to GC again, and purchased the 302's instead. They were even on sale and the grand total was less than $100!
Ok, so I got them home, hooked the up and listened to some music that I knew was solid, ie: not something I recorded. Actually it was some Clapton off youtube, "I shot the sheriff" from a few years back at the Crossroads festival. "F"ing amazing sound quality and volume. Amazingly, these monitors are only 10 watts RMS which I thought might be a problem. It is not. Of course the monitors are not broken in either, but right out of the box, they are simply incredible for what they are. Are they top of the line studio monitors? Obviously not. Am I delusional and believe that with my low budget home studio I will produce sound like the big boys? Again I say not. What I do believe I will be able to do is accurately hear exactly what I have recorded. (Within the limitations of a $100 set of speakers)
My wife, who knows very little about sound (she's no musician), but she does have ears, she said "No need to buy a stereo with those"! I believe she is correct. She usually is.
OK, so when I get into some heavy duty mixing I'll write more. For now, I'd recommend these to anyone on a budget that wants some decent sound direct from their laptop.
Thanks for reading & happy music making to you all.
Mark
