We played for free last year and were told that the ambition was to bring us back this year with pay. Only problem was we didn't get asked

Has anybody ever done a gig for exposure or for paid gigs down the road that actually led to anything? I sure haven't!

Hey rand, you spoke of volunteering for the jazz jubilee. I did that back in 85& 86 and back then it was really difficult to get a volunteer spot. I loved it, it wore me out but boy what an experience! How does a person get back on the volunteer list?

You're right in saying, it is a lot of work and it did wear us out as we take our role as volunteers seriously.It has it's rewards though and I enjoy being a part of a musical event and contributing to its success. It is also something my Wife, Daughter, and I look forward to doing as a family each year. Seeing and supporting all our friends with the Sac Blues Society there is always a plus,also! As far as you stating you volunteered back in 85-86; Do you still have contact with the people that got you "in" back then? Good Luck to you. Want to volunteer? try hitting up the Sacramento Blues and The Sierra Blues Societies as well. Thanks, I'll check those links out. As for old contacts from 85, like the ex-husband they are attatched to they kinda shriveled up. (wrote a song about it, wanna hear it ? here it go....)
