Can anyone post a list of about 10 or so songs that would be good for a bass player to learn to be able to sit in at the blues jams?
Thanks

Hi Beamer: blues jam songs: stormy monday-bb king pride and joy-srv born in chicago-butterfield that will give you a taste of the three main tempos of blues. 6/8, shuffle, 4/4 syncopation mustang sally is really r&b/rock but is a mainstay a jams I'm old school blues and come from a mixture of Delta, chicago and many other forms of blues that most consider "real" blues. Hooker, Dixon, Johnson, king, williams, waters and others. I love the new blues rock and fusion acts and play with some of them, but the old school blues relied on emotion..and I love that. Hope that helps. God bless, John crystal limage Attachments:

one of my favorite tunes to play is " born under a bad sign" it's tricky sometimes because it doesn't follow the usual 1-4-5 instead it goes 1-5-4. same as another fav "Key to the Highway" I like shuffles too

Beamer buddy, here are a few more that it is good to know, ones that you can't just jam:
Born Under a Bad Sign- Albert King Snatch It Back- Buddy Guy/Junior Wells Little By Little Help Me- Sonny Boy Williamson(it's just like Green Onions) Cissy Strut- The Meters Hootchie Cootchie Man -Muddy Waters Killin Floor- Howlin Wolf T Bone Shuffle T Bone Walker Thrill Is Gone BB King Hideaway- Freddy King Key to the Highway Cross Cut Saw Albert King (proto type for rumbas)
Thats a very good start. A lot times people will describe a tune by saying "it's just like Killin Floor" or any of em on this list.
I will post more when I think of them.
Thanks for posting!
