It may be out of the way for many of you, there is a very solid Friday night blues jam in Marysville at the Silver Dollar Saloon. The host band is friendly and they're all really solid players. I got up and sang a couple of tunes with them and was welcomed by the band and the audience with great warmth. Its about an hour north of Sac, but since I am currently living up there temporarily I figured it wouldn't hurt to give the locals a shout.

Weird room isn't it? Kinda like playing in a garage, plus you got no line of sight to the people on either side.

It is a strangely shaped place. The stage is set back so you have no idea who can hear you. And sitting at the bar, you can't see the band. That being said it is a place of excellent camaraderie among the musicians and between them and the crowd.

The Silver Dollar blues jam is a good one. It happens the first and third fridays of the month, unless recently changed. And yeah, that's a weird room, L shaped with the stage on the short leg. I think the thigh-high log wall at the front of the stage has a baffling effect too, especially on the drums. Plus the whole room is barn wood, which I'm sure sucks up the sound waves. Nice folks and good players. Good steaks too, from what I hear.

Silver Dollar is definatedly a different sounding room. And it is hard to have eye contact with everyone because of the shape of the room. But the people there are awsome. We were treated extremely well. Place was packed bartenders had a hell of a time keeping up. Joe you Rock. See ya in July.
