Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0

I finally sucked it up, and bought a new amp. I got a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0

I am TOTALLY blown away. This thing produces 600 watts at 4 ohms, and it sounds great. I cant imagine needing anything else for the gigs that I play. This amp sounded GREAT totally flat, and I didnt need to mess with it at all. I play Classic Rock covers, and this thing fits right in.

IT WEIGHS 3.75 POUNDS.......... It seems like a toy, that couldnt possibly put out any beef, but it does. My old setup that I have used for years was a power/pre setup that weighed close to 60 pounds, and this sounded as good, if not better than that. And that was playing it flat. I have played through virtually everything, and this (at least) holds up to all of my old amps. It has a preamp tube that can be overdriven as well, and gives you a nice overdrive tone. This thing could fit in the pouch on my basses gig bag, if needed. It is just stupid how small and light it is.

I bought it at Skips music, and they game me a better deal than I could have got online, even with the taxes. I didnt realize how willing that Skips would be to a cash discount, and I was impressed. I went in there willing to pay half the tax if they matched the online pricing, and they ended up giving me 10% off for a cash deal. That made it a better deal than I was expecting.

I have yet to use the DI output, and I will post again after I am able to use it. +1 to Keenans on this board for the review of this amp, his input made it easier to make the purchase.

With the upcoming release of the Shuttle 9.0 (same package, 900 watts!), there should be quite a few used 6.0's on the Used market as players upgrade.

I'm glad you like the amp Richard. It's pretty amazing.

Richard, you've had the Genz Benz a couple months now, any issues with the amp so far? I'm thinking about buying one so I'm just looking for some feedback.

So far, Im 100% happy with the purchase.

The amp sounds great, and it has plenty of headroom. I have yet to use the DI, so I cant comment about that.

Im more happy with this purchase than I have been with anything I have ever bought.
I cant believe that everything that I need (except my bass and cabinet) fits in one briefcase. I would like the amp for just that reason, its portability. Having the amp sound great is just a bonus.

Thanks for your help Richard. One quick question, do you use any of the pre-set EQ's, like the low boost or mid scoop? I'll be heading to Skip's soon to check one out.

If I may, I tend to let the room decide whether I use the pre-sets or not. Some stages are just wooden boxes, so there's no need for the Bass Boost. Some cabinets are more low end inclined, so the High Boost brings out the tweeter a little more.

I usually start Flat, and tweak to the room.

I have almost always run it flat, both on the EQ and with no presets. I used the low boost once, because I was on a concrete floor. And another time I used the mid scoop just to play around.

But just like Keenans, at a new gig, I set everything flat at the beginning of the gig, and adjust from there. Usually, there is no adjusting required.

Well I did it, bought my Shuttle 6.0 on Saturday. Like Richard said Skip's gave a good deal also. I got the amp home only to find out that I need a speaker cord to hook it up. (I played through the floor combo at the store, brought the head home still in the unopened box).
Got the cord, set up the amp and played. I though the amp was a little light at first until my neighbor came over from next door to check out the new rig (he heard inside his house
I'll put it through the paces on my next gig.
Time to start a thread on cabs.
