I hate having to soundcheck just before you go on... I suppose it's hard for bands to all soundcheck in advance in small venues like clubs and cafes when there is a larger bill, but it's very anoying. it feels unprofessional.. oh well.... a gig is better than no gig!!!

it might feel unprofessional to you, but a soundcheck before you play is very important especially at a venue you've never played. Some guys that are familiar with a certain room will do soundcheck balances with the first song of a set. Just remember, If it don't sound good, too loud or soft or the mix is'nt balanced; you can't offer as good a product to your audience and the venue owner may have a problem too

How much in advance are you talking? We soundcheck usually an hour prior to a show

Yeah an hour would be nice... but we have a show tomorrow night, and there are two bands before us, and by the sounds of it we're checking right before we start our show as in, "check check check ok sounds good lets go! one! two! three! four! na na na na na!" We had this over the top pointless intro thing we were gonna do too
