Ok so i try and support local spots around my hood (coffee, food, music etc..) and i buy strings and such from a cool little shop with cool musician employees and always get treated well. Went in the other day to get my usual 3 pack of strings and some pics and it usually runs about 16-17 bux, no biggie. Well this time he rings me up and says $21.99 Please. HUH ... I understand inflation and all but come on? Did Ernie Ball raise their prices $1.50 just this week? Come on Dude don't make me go to Guitar Center!! I paid it but i am really thinking if i can afford to shop there anymore. 2 years ago i would have just paid and not even thought about it but times have changed and I'm broke as all hell. Any Input

The only excuse, is if its a new employee.
At my work, some people are not allowed to see the actual cost of an item. If it was a new person, they might not know the proper pricing for 3 packs at a time. I would give them a chance by actually voicing your position about their pricing. More than likely, they will sell it to you for the price you dictate. That happens to me all the time, as a seller of items. These days, im happy to have whatever business I can get, and Im sure the music store feels the same way.

If it happened at my store, let me know and I will see what's up. We got some new help behind the counter.
You are right about times being tough.

Thanks for the feedback guys,
I talked with the manager the other day and he said he would cut me a break since i am a loyal longtime customer. I also found out that he is barely making the rent and payroll every month and has been having a hard time as i think most of us are. His vendors are also getting hit hard and dropping like Flies, So i decided that i am going to continue to shop at this place mostly due to the fact that i have genuine conversations with the employees and that is priceless, they are always very helpful and i never feel pressured into making a purchase as i sometimes feel at the big store.
Ever get the feeling you were talking to Nigel from Spinal Tap when asking questions at Guitar Center? "This one goes to 11" Where do you work jlev?

The Guitar Workshop. We are still there, things are pretty slow.
