Greetings,
I'm an experienced musician (guitar and bass) looking to learn proper conga technique and tone generation. Hand percussion is completely new to me, so I am a rank beginner. Looking for an instructor who can show me how to achieve great tone without hurting my hands. I live in Auburn, CA.
Thanks,
Michael

There is an African guy that does a 'drum circle' at Northridge Music 969-4728, I think on thursday night. It's probably not what you're looking for. It's more for the general public, without focusing on any actual technique. But he might do lessons too. Outside of that, there are two really good percussionists I know in this area, but they might be pricey. One is Carey Avery, and one is Mambo Hernandez. I don't have any contact info.
