Thought I'd see if this could be updated. I know the Wednesday night jam at Louie's in Rancho is up and running. Anyone else wish to share info on local jam sessions they know about? It would also be very helpful to know what typ of music to expect (Rock, Country, Jazz, acoustic only, electric only - whatever you may know would be helpful).
The 2 I've recently been to are: Western Swing Society at the Machinist Hall in Rancho Cordova. This is the first Sunday of the month and starts at 1:00PM. The last 2 jams broke up around 4:30PM, but there still live music on the main stage. The jam room is off to the right of the food service area next to the bathrooms. There's some really great players and worth a trip if you haven't been. Unfortunatley, there is a cover charge ($4.00 for members $7.00 for non members). Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society is on the second Sunday of every Month. I attended for the first time this past Sunday and had a good time. This jam starts around noon and we quit about 4:30PM. I was told if a player shows up 5 times you get a free pass to the festival. I'm honestly not sure if there's a cover charge since I walked in with someone else. I guess they'll send me a bill. Again a lot of good players and I believe there are some people in that group that know every song ever written from 1890 to early 1970's. Move out of your comfort zone and have some fun. They have a regular guy jam room and the "Gold Card" room in addition to the regular stage show.
I was invited to a new western swing/country jam that will be the second and fourth Sundays of every month begining in June. I believe it's from 2 to 6. It will be at the Yuba City Moose which is located at 205 South Walton, Yuba City, CA. 95993. Yes, it's a little drive, but worth the effort. I love playing with these guys that have been around for a while and know the music inside out. I always learn something.
Any more to add to the list?
Thanks for looking.

A bunch more, mostly "blues" jams though. Louies is a bit more jazz and western swing oriented(I'm in the house band) Others that I am involved in Mondays at the Station in Roseville 8 PM Sundays at the Valencia Club in Penryn at 2 Tuesdays at the Elk Grove Sports Bar 7 PM
That will get you started.

I'm going to try a make Louie's. I thought the Valencia club and The Station are more of a Rock crowd. I'm focusing on the country thing now. I just have to get out more. Thanks for the info Joe!
